They are often complex because of the vast number of interrelationships and amongst and between different connected systems. Living systems have an added layer of complexity because they tend to evolve by adapting to external stimuli over time.\n<\/p>\n<p>Many of the challenges we face as a society arise from the way our social and industrial systems currently operate.
