Many people in business are surprised by how many good things they are already doing: energy efficiency initiatives, recycling, waste diversion, community contributions and many more. And it\u2019s the same with communities and councils. The truth is, over the last few years much has been achieved to reduce the impact of our activities through well-designed initiatives.\n<\/p>\n

For any organisation, there is great value in understanding the full range of initiatives in place and why they have been successful.\n<\/p>\n

What have teams learnt about what works, and what doesn\u2019t work to engage people and change behaviours?\n<\/p>\n

What possibilities do the successful initiatives already in place create for further progress?

This activity is required for students seeking formal credit.<\/b> Other students may complete a learning journal but it will not be assessed.\n<\/p>\n

  1. Focusing on your own organisation or community (or an organisation or community that you\u2019re familiar with), write a list of all the positive, successful initiatives and projects that have addressed sustainability issues in the past.\n<\/li>\n
  2. Against each one, write a short reflection in your learning journal about what the initiative has achieved, why it was successful and what opportunities it presents for future progress.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
