The framework uses ecological footprinting and carbon footprinting as its headline indicators.  It is based on ten guiding principles of sustainability as a framework.\n<\/p>\n<p>The concept of One Planet Living builds on sustainability work carried out by Bioregional over the past few decades but specifically grew out of Bioregional\u2019s work to build the BedZED eco-village in south London.\n<\/p>\n<p>The 10 One Planet Living principles cover:\n<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"background: yellow;height: 50px;width: 200px;text-align: center\"> &nbsp;<b>Health&nbsp;and&nbsp;happiness<\/b>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td> Encouraging active, sociable, meaningful lives to promote good health and well being.\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"background: yellowgreen;height: 50px;text-align: center\"> &nbsp;<b>Equity&nbsp;and&nbsp;local&nbsp;economy<\/b>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td> Creating bioregional economies that support equity and diverse local employment and international fair trade.\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"background: olivedrab;height: 50px;text-align: center\"> &nbsp;<b>Culture&nbsp;and&nbsp;community<\/b>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td> Respecting and reviving local identity, wisdom and culture; encouraging the involvement of people in shaping their community and creating a new culture of sustainability.\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"background: MediumAquaMarine;height: 50px;text-align: center\"> &nbsp;<b>Land&nbsp;use&nbsp;and&nbsp;wildlife<\/b>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td> Protecting and restoring biodiversity and creating new natural habitats through good land use and integration into the built environment.\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"background: teal;height: 50px;text-align: center\"> &nbsp;<b>Land&nbsp;use&nbsp;and&nbsp;wildlife<\/b>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td>Protecting and restoring biodiversity and creating new natural habitats through good land use and integration into the built environment.\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"background: dodgerblue;height: 50px;text-align: center\"> &nbsp;<b>Sustainable&nbsp;water<\/b>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td>Using water efficiently in buildings, farming and manufacturing.
