{"id":3049,"date":"2021-11-27T05:34:23","date_gmt":"2021-11-27T05:34:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/course.oeru.org\/ctvsd1\/?page_id=3049"},"modified":"2021-11-27T05:34:23","modified_gmt":"2021-11-27T05:34:23","slug":"designing-with-oaras","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/course.oeru.org\/ctvsd1\/learning-project\/outcomes-element-of-oaras\/designing-with-oaras\/","title":{"rendered":"Designing with OARAS"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\" class=\"mw-body container\" role=\"main\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12\">\n<div class=\"panel\">\n<div class=\"panel-body\">\n<div id=\"bodyContent\">\n<div id=\"mw-content-text\" lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\" class=\"mw-content-ltr\">\n<div class=\"floatright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wikieducator.org\/File:OARAS1.png\" class=\"image\" title=\"OARAS\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"OARAS\" src=\"\/\/wikieducator.org\/images\/thumb\/5\/56\/OARAS1.png\/300px-OARAS1.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"62\" class=\"img-responsive\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>The <b>OARAS<\/b> template was developed to guide and support planning, learning design, development and creation of assessments, learning resources and activities to meet occupational standards, outcomes and competencies of qualifications under COL\u2019s Skills in Demand programmes, projects and initiatives.\n<\/p>\n<p>The template is designed to enable effective, practical and sustainable learning design for workplace and competency based training focusing on:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> <b>Outcomes<\/b> to be achieved in order to meet competence;\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li> <b>Assessments<\/b> to measure and provide evidence of competence;\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li> <b>Resources<\/b> for learners to work with and learn from;\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li> <b>Activities<\/b> for learners to engage in to support and enable their learning;\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li> <b>Support<\/b> with the subject, concepts, numeracy, literacy, ICT and\/or study skills.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Why should you use OARAS to design your module or course?<\/b>\n<\/p>\n<p>Using a template as OARAS to work on the high level design of courses or modules of a qualification provides:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> structure that focuses the design on alignment of outcomes, assessment and learning by aligning assessments methods and strategies to the outcomes, and activities and learning resources that the learners are engaged with to the outcomes and assessments they need to complete,\n<\/li>\n<li> a consistent approach to assessment and comparable assessment outcomes as the same assessment strategies and methods are used to assess learners by different trainers and assessors,\n<\/li>\n<li> a consistent and comparable learning experience as training and learning activities are guided by the completed template,\n<\/li>\n<li> support to the learning process as support is planned, designed for and integrated at the design stage rather than as an add on afterthought.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To get an overview of the OARAS template and how to use it watch the following video.
