You can download and install the latest <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"http:\/\/www.libreoffice.org\/download\/libreoffice-still\/\">stable version<\/a> of the software for your operating system. LibreOffice supports the import and export of SVG files (see <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"https:\/\/wiki.documentfoundation.org\/Feature_Comparison:_LibreOffice_-_Microsoft_Office\">here<\/a>).\n<\/li>\n<li> You are free to use any software package which supports the import and export of open SVG file formats. (To the best of our knowledge, the Microsoft Office suite does not support the open SVG vector graphic format.)\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li> Launch Inkscape and explore the software.\n<ul>\n<li> If you are new to using graphics software, search YouTube for Inkscape tutorials. You will find extensive resources, for example the <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zUIOEXssTSE\">Derek Banas introduction<\/a> to Inkscape tools or the playlist for <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLAAD35A719CF5A042\">Inkscape tutorials for beginners<\/a> published by Davina and Caroline.\n<\/li>\n<li> Note: You are not expected to become an intermediate or advanced user of graphics software. All that is required are basic skills to add text, squares, and rectangles, to change colours and to import\/export SVG graphics.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li> Conceptualize a chart, diagram, or graphic for inclusion in the learning pathway you are planning to develop.\n<ul>\n<li> Revisit the stimulus resources on the <a href=\"\/ds4oer\/learning-pathways\/completing-the-digital-skills-challenges\/start-diagram-remix-challenge\" title=\"Digital skills for collaborative OER development\/Digital skill challenges\/Diagram remix\">Start page<\/a> for this challenge to generate ideas.\n<\/li>\n<li> Draft a freehand version of the concept for the diagram on a separate piece of paper.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li> Conduct a search for SVG graphics you could potentially copy, reuse, and remix for inclusion in your diagram. A few suggestions:\n<ul>\n<li> Search on <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/wiki\/Main_Page\">Wikimedia Commons<\/a>, and include the string &#8220;SVG&#8221; in your search. A good starting point may be the category <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/wiki\/Category:SVG_icons?uselang=en-gb\">SVG icons<\/a>.\n<\/li>\n<li> Visit <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"https:\/\/openclipart.org\/\">openclipart.org<\/a> which has a large collection of clipart you can download in SVG format.\n<\/li>\n<li> Conduct a web search for openly licensed SVG images.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li> <b>Record<\/b> the urls of the pages of the SVG graphics you would like to download, as well as the names of the authors and license types of the images, for later use when attributing your derivative work.\n<ul>\n<li> See for example the attribution of the SVG icons included in this <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"http:\/\/wikieducator.org\/File:OERu_course_structureV2.svg\">graphic<\/a> illustrating the structure of an OERu course.
