Examples to think about:\n<ul>\n<li> A video signpost to introduce a topic and to establish rapport between the author of the materials and prospective learners\n<\/li>\n<li> Demonstrating a skill or technique\n<\/li>\n<li> Providing tips or guidelines for preparing a complex activity or assignment\n<\/li>\n<li> Guidelines or motivation for mastering a difficult concept\n<\/li>\n<li> A screen cast illustrating how to use software, complete an online task, or generate an audio track for a few slides\n<\/li>\n<li> A compilation of snippets of existing OER video from leading thinkers in your field\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li> Develop a simple text-based story board for your video to determine the sequence of ideas.\n<ul>\n<li> For ideas on how to get start with your plan, consider downloading <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"http:\/\/www.melaclaro.com\/2011\/06\/09\/storyboard-templates\/\">Mel Aclaro&#8217;s<\/a> two-column <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"http:\/\/www.melaclaro.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/download-monitor\/download.php?id=1\">storyboard template<\/a>.\n<\/li>\n<li> Script what you plan to say.\n<\/li>\n<li> Identify useful visual material.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li> Create your video or screencast.\n<ul>\n<li> Incorporate a minimum of two existing OER assets (images, audio tracks, or video). Note the license, metadata, and url for attribution purposes.\n<\/li>\n<li> <i>Hardware<\/i>: We do not require high-end video production for this learning challenge.\n<ul>\n<li> You can use a computer webcam or the video recording function on a personal digital camera or smartphone.\n<\/li>\n<li> If you don&#8217;t have a camera, consider creating a screencast using an online service like <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"https:\/\/www.screenr.com\/Screenr\">Screenr<\/a>. If you use Screenr, remember to publish your screencast to YouTube and apply an open license.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li> <i>Software<\/i>: You can use any available video editing software.\n<ul>\n<li> There are a number of free video editing programs you could use (see for example <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"http:\/\/www.digitaltrends.com\/computing\/best-free-video-editing-software\/\">here<\/a>.)\n<\/li>\n<li> You may want to use <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/youtube\/answer\/183851?hl=en\">YouTube&#8217;s online video editor<\/a>. Note you can remix any YouTube video with a Creative Commons license, which is an easy way to generate snippets from longer videos.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li> Investigate a few <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"http:\/\/creativecommons.org\/videos\">Creative Commons videos<\/a> to see how material reused in the video is attributed, usually displayed in the credits at the end of the video.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li> Publish your video online using an open content license.
