The Sustainable Development Goals are a major global initiative to address the most critical global issues of our time. They follow on from the Millennium Development Goals, which were unprecedented as a commitment by the international community to improve living conditions for the poorest and most vulnerable around the globe. The MDGs led to some very substantial improvements, but not all of the goals and targets were met. The outcomes of the MDGS provide insight as to what some of the greatest challenges associated with the SDGs are likely to be.
