Any business owner, especially an inexperienced entrepreneur, needs advice and guidance from others. These can include:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> professional advisers &#8211; trained professionals such as lawyers, accountants, and IT consultants with specific areas of expertise\n<\/li>\n<li> a mentor &#8211; someone with relevant experience, offering informal guidance and support\n<\/li>\n<li> a formal or informal support group, such as a business owners&#8217; network\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"panel iDevice\">\n\t<div class=\"panel-heading idevice-heading\">\n\t\t<div>\n\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"pedagogicalicon\" alt=\"reading\" src=\"https:\/\/course.oeru.org\/ient102\/wp-content\/themes\/oeru_course\/idevices\/Icon_reading.png\">\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div>\n\t\t\t<h2>Different types of business advice<\/h2>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\t<div class=\"panel-body\">\n\t\t<div class=\"col-md-12\">\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> To understand the range of professional advice services that may be available for a business owner and why they are useful, read these two articles produced by government-funded business support agencies:\n<ul>\n<li> <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"https:\/\/www.business.qld.gov.au\/starting-business\/planning\/advisers\/types\">Types of business advisers (Queensland Government, Australia)<\/a>\n<\/li>\n<li> <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"https:\/\/www.business.govt.nz\/getting-started\/advice-and-governance\/how-business-advisors-can-help\/\">How business advisers can help (New Zealand Government)<\/a>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Note that some of the terminology and legislation referred to in these articles is specific to one particular country, but the issues and services referred to will be relevant in many different business environments.\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Consider the situation of one entrepreneur in Malawi, <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"https:\/\/www.microloanfoundation.org.uk\/emmimah-nyalugwe\/\">Emmimah Nyalugwe<\/a>, as reported by the Microloan Foundation.
