Ethical concerns are particularly important in psychology because it is a field in which the behaviour of humans and other animals is studied. Furthermore, the topics studied in psychology, such as depression, lying, intelligence, stress, date rape, pain perception, and divorce, are often emotionally charged and highly personal. Therefore, research guidelines have been developed by organizations such as the American Psychological Association (APA) and Canada’s Interagency Advisory Panel on Research Ethics. These guidelines, or principles, describe the ethical do\u2019s and don\u2019ts of conducting research.
