Save the page.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><span class=\"mw-headline\" id=\"Source_the_wiki_text_for_pedagogical_templates_and_familiarising_yourself_with_the_options\">Source the wiki text for pedagogical templates and familiarising yourself with the options<\/span><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li> Visit the <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wikieducator.org\/Quickstart_guide\/pedagogical_templates\">Quickstart guide for pedagogical templates<\/a>. This can be accessed on the <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wikieducator.org\/Main_Page\">WikiEducator homepage<\/a> from the <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wikieducator.org\/Help:Contents\">Help link<\/a> on the left-hand side of the screen.\n<\/li>\n<li> Read through the quickstart guide noting the range of predefined templates and corresponding wiki text for changing the type parameter, for example |<code>type=Activity<\/code>. Note that:\n<ul>\n<li> parameter names are case sensitive\u2014they should always be lower case.\n<\/li>\n<li> you can only use the predefined types listed.\n<\/li>\n<li> you can customise the label associated with the icon using the title parameter.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li> Copy the wiki text syntax displayed near the top of the <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wikieducator.org\/Quickstart_guide\/pedagogical_templates\">Quickstart guide for pedagogical templates<\/a>.\n<\/li>\n<li> Go to the subpage on your sandbox you created above for practising pedagogical templates.\n<\/li>\n<li> <b>Important<\/b>: Click on the <b>Edit source<\/b> link because wiki text <b>will not work<\/b> using the VisualEditor.\n<\/li>\n<li> Paste the wiki text for the pedagogical template you copied above onto your practice page.\n<\/li>\n<li> Save your page.\n<\/li>\n<li> If you have carried out the steps correctly you should see an empty template published on your practice page.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><span class=\"mw-headline\" id=\"Practice_editing_and_customising_your_pedagogical_templates\">Practice editing and customising your pedagogical templates<\/span><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li> Click on the &#8220;Edit source&#8221; link for your practice subpage. The wiki text specifying the pedagogical template will be displayed inside curly brackets.\n<\/li>\n<li> Choose a pedagogical template type, for example &#8220;Media&#8221; or &#8220;Case study&#8221; and type this next to the &#8220;|<code>type=<\/code>&#8221; parameter.\n<\/li>\n<li> Type your practice body text, for example &#8220;This is practice body text&#8221; next to the &#8220;|<code>body=<\/code>&#8221; parameter. Note that you will need to use basic wiki text for layout and formatting of the actual body text. (See <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"http:\/\/wikieducator.org\/Quickstart_guide\/Basic_wiki_text\/\">Quickstart guide for basic wiki text<\/a> for more information.)\n<\/li>\n<li> Save your page.\n<\/li>\n<li> Practice changing the theme by typing &#8220;wikieducator&#8221; or &#8220;line&#8221; next to the &#8220;|<code>theme=<\/code>&#8221; parameter (For the purposes of this course, there are only two themes available.)\n<\/li>\n<li> Choose an icon which would work with an alternate display title, for example the question mark could be used with a title &#8220;Test your knowledge&#8221;. Type an alternate title next to the &#8220;|<code>title=<\/code>&#8220;.
