Document Analysis of a Secondary Source<\/b>\n<\/p>\n

In this assignment you will be developing your information literacy and research skills (which are associated skills) by locating and then critically evaluating a journal article.\n<\/p>\n

Task One:<\/b>
\nSearch for the following article in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ – http:\/\/doaj.org\/<\/a> ):\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
  Author  \n<\/th>\n  Title of Article  \n<\/th>\n  Title of Journal  \n<\/th>\n  Year of Publication  \n<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
 Chris Dixon  \n<\/td>\n   \u2018The Roots of East Asian Resilience to the Financial Crisis\u2019  \n<\/td>\n   Journal of Asia Pacific Studies  \n<\/td>\n   2012  \n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Use the search engine that appears to search for the journal title (not the article title or author).\n<\/p>\n

You will then need to follow the link to the journal homepage to search in its archive. The year of publication will be an essential search tool.\n<\/p>\n

NB: You do not need to write anything for Task One as the locating of the article will speak for itself.\n<\/p>\n

\nTask Two:<\/b> Critically evaluate the article by providing answers to the following questions. You must write between 150 and 200 words for each question for questions 2, 3 and 4.\n<\/p>\n

  1. Write a fully formatted Harvard reference for the journal article\n<\/li>\n
  2. How would you assess the academic credibility of the article? Is the author\/s well qualified or associated with any professional bodies? Is the journal peer reviewed? Is it current (i.e. still up to date)? Has the author\/s used internal evidence? Is it objectively written or is there evidence of some bias?\n<\/li>\n
  3. What is the article\u2019s major point of argument or assertion?\n<\/li>\n
  4. What is the evidence used to support this argument?\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
