{"id":612,"date":"2016-03-22T02:37:40","date_gmt":"2016-03-22T02:37:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/course.oeru.org\/sia\/?page_id=612"},"modified":"2016-03-22T02:37:40","modified_gmt":"2016-03-22T02:37:40","slug":"connecting-learners-with-open-resources","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/course.oeru.org\/sia\/course-content\/informatics-and-analytics\/connecting-learners-with-open-resources\/","title":{"rendered":"Connecting learners with open resources"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\" class=\"mw-body container\" role=\"main\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12\">\n<div class=\"panel\">\n<div class=\"panel-body\">\n<div id=\"bodyContent\">\n<div id=\"mw-content-text\" lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\" class=\"mw-content-ltr\">\n<h2><span class=\"mw-headline\" id=\"Connecting_learners_with_open_resources\">Connecting learners with open resources<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This is an OERu course that has been designed to contribute to the community service and outreach mission of the <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"http:\/\/wikieducator.org\/OERu\/About\">OERu<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>In the <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"http:\/\/wikieducator.org\/Sport_Informatics_and_Analytics\/Introductions\">Introductions theme (T1)<\/a>, we:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Explored our approach to open sharing.\n<\/li>\n<li> Introduced people, perspectives, products and processes.\n<\/li>\n<li> Drew attention to the Informatik tradition and its links with sport informatics.\n<\/li>\n<li> Discussed the emergence of sport analytics.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Audiences and Messages (T4) contained within it a discussion of <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/ucsportinformaticsandanalytics\/messages-and-audiences\">personal learning<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>One of our topics within the Introductions theme was <a rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"external text\" href=\"http:\/\/wikieducator.org\/Sport_Informatics_and_Analytics\/Introductions\/Communities_of_Practice\">Communities of Practice<\/a>. We mentioned that Etienne Wenger<sup id=\"cite_ref-1\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"#cite_note-1\">[1]<\/a><\/sup><sup id=\"cite_ref-2\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"#cite_note-2\">[2]<\/a><\/sup> has discussed the benefits of communities of practice for learning communities. We shared this quotation:\n<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nCommunities of practice are groups of people who share a concern or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We noted too that his definition of communities of practice has three important characteristics:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> A domain that has an identity defined by a shared interest.\n<\/li>\n<li> A community in which &#8220;members engage in joint activities and discussions, help each other, and share information. They build relationships that enable them to learn from each other.\n<\/li>\n<li> A shared practice that is developed through &#8220;a shared repertoire of resources: experiences, stories, tools, ways of addressing recurring problems.<sup id=\"cite_ref-3\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"#cite_note-3\">[3]<\/a><\/sup>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>One of the issues that arises from your engagement with this cours is how you might become part of a vibrant community interested in and possibly passionate about sport informatics and analytics.
