Martin Luther’s Ninety-Five Theses placed in doubt and repudiated several Roman Catholic practices.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\nThis learning pathway explores the profound religious turmoil in Europe in the 1600s and 1700s. The Protestant Reformation challenged the religious and political power of the Catholic Church. It led to the Thirty Years’ War, which had a terrible impact on Central Europe. Catholic and Protestant states became deeply divided. The Church responded with a period of reform, the Counter-Reformation.\n<\/p>\n

During this learning pathway students will watch a video lecture on Martin Luther, a key figure in the Protestant Reformation, and complete four readings about the Reformation and Counter-Reformation.\n<\/p>\n
