Welcome to Session 1 of World History: Imperialism and War.<\/b> The course website is: http:\/\/course.oeru.org\/whme102\/<\/a> and if you haven’t bookmarked it already, we recommend you do so.\n<\/p>\n

In Session 1 we begin by examining imperialism in the long nineteenth century – the period between the French Revolution and World War One. During this period, colonies became symbols of power for European nations such as England, France and Germany, and there was substantial rivalry between the Great Powers as they sought to expand their empires.\n<\/p>\n
