Purpose: Install a free and open-source software application to record and edit audio files

Note: The file download is approximately 28MB and may take some time to download on a low band-width connection. If more than one teacher at your school is participating in this course, to save on data we suggest that one person downloads the software which you can share ‘offline’ using a portable flash drive.

1. Go to the Audacity website: https://www.audacityteam.org/
2. Click on the ‘Download Audacity’ button
   • The website should automatically choose the correct file for your operating system
   • Alternatively, from the main menu, select ‘Download’ and choose your operating system (Windows, Mac, or Linux).
3. You will be redirected to the FOSSHUB site to download the installation file
   • For Windows, select the ‘Windows Installer’ option
   • For Mac, select ‘macOS DMG’
   • For Linux, we recommend that you search for Audacity via your software package manager
4. Download the installation file
5. Double click the installation file, and follow the instructions on the screen

Note: The version number for your download may be different to the version number in this video. The download site will provide you with the most recent version of the Audacity software.
