UN Headquarters, New York

This learning pathway will examine the aftermath of World War Two. The Nuremberg trials, held after war, sought to bring leading Nazi war criminals to justice. After two global wars just decades apart, the international community was determined to avoid further bloodshed. The United Nations was created in an attempt to ensure global peace and security. At the same time, however, already new tensions were erupting. The United States and the Soviet Union emerged as economic, political and military superpowers following World War Two, but very quickly their ideological differences led to the beginnings of the Cold War.

During this learning pathway you will watch one video, complete three readings and examine one primary source document.
