objectives

Overview

In this pathway, you will familiarize with the principles, functions and organizational structures of persuasive speeches. You will also learn how to present effective, ethical arguments and avoid logical fallacies by keeping an audience-centred focus. Diverse individual and cultural perspectives influence the persuasion process. When we better understand others, we can better predict what they may value and feel in specific situations, and how they may behave. In persuasive speaking, it’s important to express emotion, and appeal to audience emotions, with respect, honesty and integrity to build positive versus exploitive relationships. This learning pathway also introduces you to the elevator pitch, which is a common business presentation expectation.
