Inserting citations and references

Once you’ve integrated sources into your essay, you need to make sure they are cited or referenced properly and in the required style. There are many different citation styles. We’re going to be focusing on two of the most commonly used: APA and MLA.

Now consider the following questions:

  1. Do you collect information about your sources as you find them?
  2. Do you know what information is needed to produce a complete citation?
  3. Are you familiar with one or several citation styles?

Read Section 13.2 from the Writing for success course, to learn more about citing and referencing techniques using the APA style. The exercises are not compulsory but they may help you get a better understanding of the intricacies of citing and referencing.
