Now that you’ve done some research and found some suitable sources to support your arguments, it’s time to insert them. Should you quote them directly? Should you paraphrase what the author wrote? How can you be sure that you haven’t used your sources in a way that might be viewed as plagiarism? In this learning pathway, you will learn how to integrate sources smoothly and correctly.



The overall purpose of this learning pathway is to learn how to integrate sources correctly into your essay. Your goal is to:

  • Learn when it’s appropriate to quote a source directly and how to do it.
  • Learn how to paraphrase a source to use its support but in your own words.
  • Learn about plagiarism and how to avoid it.
