Dear Student,

Welcome to Session 5 of World History: Imperialism and War. You can access all course materials for this micro-course on the website at anytime: http://course.oeru.org/whme102/

In this session we learn about World War One. World War One began in Europe, but quickly spread to become the first global war. In a little over four years, more than eight million lives were lost in the war. In this session we examine the major campaigns and theaters of the war, colonial warfare, and the role of new technology and tactics in determining the course of the war. You can begin Session 5 here.

Remember, its a great idea to write a blog about your learning (and include the #whme102 course hashtag so a link appears in WEnotes), to reflect on your learning by posting a comment on WEnotes or to post a comment on our course forum. All of these activities can help you to build and consolidate your knowledge.

Enjoy your learning,

Deborah
