A backchannel is a networked conversation that runs alongside the primary group conversation. In this course we will use Twitter as the backchannel. You will need to know how to use the course hashtag in your tweets: #OERulida101

Tweet using course hashtag

Purpose: Confirm digital skills to post a tweet using the course hashtag.

Tasks

  1. Create a Twitter account (if you don’t already have one – click on “Sign up for Twitter”)
  2. Complete or update your profile information
  3. Post a tweet and include the hastag “#OERulida101” in the body of the Tweet, sharing why you joined this course (the video shows how to do this at approximately 1 minute and 44 seconds). For example:
    • I joined the #OERulida101 course because …
  4. Go to the search bar and type in “#OERulida101″and press enter to display tweets using the course hashtag.

A few notes about the #OERulida101 backchannel

  1. You must include the hashtag in your tweets so other learners can find the twitter feed for this course.
  2. Tweets using the course hashtag won’t appear in the course feed. Twitters’ terms of reference do not permit syndication and integration into the OERu course feed.
  3. We will use the #OERulida101 backchannel for our optional daily photo challenge where learners are invited to share a photo and short reflection depicting how you used technology each day of the course.
