In this section, we show you how to:

  1. Register a new account on the OERu course website (course.oeru.org)
  2. Log in to a course site
  3. Enrol for an OERu course for existing account holders
  4. Leave an OERu course for existing account holders
  5. Manage your course site password


At the OERu, you can access all our learning materials without the need to create an account. However, you will need to create an account on the OERu course website (course.oeru.org) and enrol on your selected course if you wish to:

  1. Receive course instructions via email
  2. Engage in interactions with other learners on the course, for example, by posting comments on the course site, and linking your personal learning blog to the course feed.

Signing up for an OERu course is a two-step process:

  • Step 1: Register a user account on the OERu course website (course.oeru.org) – if you don’t already have one.
  • Step 2: Enrol for your chosen course from the course homepage.

Register a new account on the OERu course website (course.oeru.org)

  1. Go to any page in your chosen course. This will be https://course.oeru.org/coursecode/ e.g. https://course.oeru.org/lida101/
  2. Click on the “Log in/register” link at the top of your page (or the head graphic () when using a smart phone)

  3. Click on the “Register button”

  4. Follow the instructions on screen to fill out your user details.
    • Your username must use lowercase letters and may contain numbers
    • Usernames must be unique (using numbers as well as letters will help with this)
  5. Fill out and confirm your password
    • 8 characters minimum
    • You can use a mix of lower and upper case letters, numbers and symbols.
    • Your password is case sensitive.
  6. Click the “Register button” (This creates a new account on the OERu course website (course.oeru.org)).
  7. You will be redirected to a login window. Log in with your email or username registered above.
  8. By enrolling in the course, you automatically opt in to receive course instructions via email. However, you can unsubscribe from course emails at any time.

Log in to a course site

You need to log in to post comments on a course web site, change your enrolment status or retrieve your password.

  1. Go to your course site. This will be https://course.oeru.org/coursecode/ e.g. https://course.oeru.org/lida101/
  2. From the course site click on the “Log in/Register” link or the head graphic ().
  3. Click on the “Log In” button.

  4. Enter your username or email you used to register on the course.oeru.org web site.
    • Remember, your user name must be lowercase letters.
    • If your password doesn’t work, click the “Try again” button, then click on the “Password Reset” link.
  5. Click the “Log In” button.


Enrol for an OERu course for existing account holders

Existing account holders can enrol in any additional OERu course they wish to take. Log in to the respective course site and you can change your enrolment status

If you already have an account on the course.oeru.org web site, it’s a simple process to change your enrolment status:

  1. Go to your course site. This will be https://course.oeru.org/coursecode/ e.g. https://course.oeru.org/lida101/
  2. Click on the “Log In/Register” link or the head graphic ().
  3. Click on the “Log In” button
  4. Fill out your Username or Email and Password and click on the “Log In” button.
  5. Your status should display as “Not enrolled” (assuming you did not enrol for the course previously). See for example:

  6. Click on this “Username >> Not enrolled” link.
  7. Click on the “Enrol” button for the course you selected.

  8. Click on the “Enrol” button to confirm your enrolment to post comments on the course site and to receive course instructions via email.
  9. Your status will now be displayed as “Enrolled”. See for example:

Leave an OERu course for existing account holders

Existing account holders can unenrol from an OERu course. Log in to the respective course site and change your enrolment status

If you already have an account on the course.oeru.org web site, it’s a simple process to change your enrollment status:

  1. Go to your course site. This will be https://course.oeru.org/coursecode/ e.g. https://course.oeru.org/lida101/
  2. Click on the “Log In/Register” link or the head graphic ().
  3. Click on the “Log In” button
  4. Fill out your Username or Email and Password and click on the “Log In” button.
  5. Your status should display as “Enrolled” (assuming you are currently enrolled on the course). See for example:

  6. Click on this “Username >> Enrolled” link.
  7. Click on the “Leave” button for the course you want to leave.

  8. Click on the “Unenrol” button to confirm that you want to leave the course. You will be able to rejoin the course in the future.
  9. Your status will now be displayed as “Not enrolled”. See for example:

Manage your course site password

You can reset or update your password.

To reset your password before you log in to the course.oeru.org site

This option can be used if you have forgotten your password.

  1. Go to your course site. This will be https://course.oeru.org/coursecode/ e.g. https://course.oeru.org/lida101/
  2. Click on the “Log In/Register” link or the head graphic ().
  3. Click on the “Log In” button
  4. Click on the “Password Reset” link and follow instructions on screen to retrieve your password.

To change your password when you are logged in on the course.oeru.org site

  1. Click on your Username link.
  2. Click on the “Update Password” button.

  3. Enter your current password (case sensitive).
  4. Enter new password.
  5. Confirm new password.
  6. Click the “Save” button to update your password.
